Race OverviewWasing Estate is the home for this, the first QX trail run in 2012. Covering several thousand acres of prime Berkshire land, the Estate offers some lovely varied terrain for trail running. Just one hour from London, in the beating heart of the South East, Wasing is an oasis of calm with winding rivers and narnia-esque wooded lakes supporting an incredibly rich variety of flora and fauna. With two different course length options available, you can decide whether to go short and fast or long and steady. Both courses are designed for all levels and abilities, so you can choose to do whichever suits you best. QX (Quest X-terrain) is exactly as the name suggests, an opportunity to challenge yourself in a high quality endurance event, exploring your personal limits through the exhilaration of off-road racing. Are you up for the challenge? Race LocationThis QX trail run takes place in the beautiful surroundings of Wasing Park, on the Wasing Estate in West Berkshire. Wasing is conveniently located midway between Newbury, Reading and Basingstoke. Situated 8 miles east of Newbury, 11 miles south west of Reading and 12 miles north of Basingstoke, Wasing is just one hour’s drive from London and can be easily accessed from both the M4 and M3 motorways. ADDRESS Wasing Park, Aldermaston, Nr Reading, Berkshire, RG7 4NG Course InformationThe course takes you around the private grounds of the Wasing Estate on dirt trails and tracks, through open countryside and picturesque woodland areas. The forest tracks have a firm base providing a good all weather running surface. However, don’t be fooled, these trails can still be wet and muddy on top so an off road trail shoe with a good tread is best. There are a few short interesting sections of single track through the woods but in general most of the tracks are wide, offering plenty of opportunity for overtaking so there’s little chance of getting stuck or held up behind slower runners. COURSE OPTIONS There are two different course lengths available which cater for all abilities. The short course is aimed at sprint distance and novice trail runners, while the long course is a two-lap race for more experienced and endurance athletes.
